Artificial Intelligence’s Impacts on Artistic Creativity: A Clash between Copyright and Public Domain Approaches

要旨

近年の人工知能技術の進歩は、芸術的創造性や著作権法にいくつかの課題をもたらしてきた。それらは、新しい文学作品や芸術作品の制作にどのようなインパクトを及ぼすのか？ 人間はコンピュータと競争することができるのか？コンピュータが生み出す作品は、人間が生み出す作品に何らかの仕方で影響を与えるのか？ 著作権法は、人工知能を使った技術が生み出した作品を保護することができるのか、また、保護すべきなのか？ 本発表では、このような問いに取り組み、人工知能が文学・芸術作品の制作領域にもたらす論争や難問にいくらかの光を当てることを試みる。

Abstract

Recent advances in artificial intelligence technologies have brought several challenges to artistic creativity and copyright law. What will be their impacts on the production of new literary and artistic works? Will humans be able to compete with computers? Will the works generated by computers influence in any way the works created by humans? Can and should copyright law protect the works produced by the technologies employing artificial intelligence? This Presentation will attempt to address such questions and to shed some light on controversies and conundrums brought by artificial intelligence to the domain of the production of literary and artistic works.
