センターについて

Purpose

The goal of the center for human nature, Artificial Intelligence, and neuroscience is to create new ideas about human nature by integrating humanities, which has been inheriting the traditions of human wisdom for the past several thousand years, and rapidly emerging intellectual fields of neuroscience and Artificial Intelligence. Background

In contemporary times, the human and social sciences have inherited a task that has existed for thousands of years dating back to antiquity: to think about what it means to be human. Philosophy started from the efforts of many great and ancient traditions – such as those in Greece, India, and China – to think about humanity and the universe and is considered the mother of many different academic fields that have developed leading up to the present. Program

教育プログラム

From July 2020, the CHAIN will start a new graduate-level education program integrating humanities and sciences. Master and Ph. D. students majoring humanities, social sciences, neuroscience, and computer science in graduate schools at Hokkaido University can participate in the program provided by the CHAIN. Participants will engage in interdisciplinary joint research on one (or more) of the four main topics – the self, consciousness, sociality, and rationality. Courseworks for acquiring basic and advanced skills and knowledge in related topics will also be provided.
